Roots and Wings

Love between two people gives them both roots and wings.

Paradoxical, isn’t it? But still true.

True love, healthy love, offers roots to a person. Roots to have a home, to be grounded, to know there is safety. When storms come and blow, the roots hold you firm. You won’t be unearthed and blown over. Life’s storms aren’t as scary. With these roots, each person is allowed to grow, to change, to morph. You’ll go through seasons and you changes but always be growing stronger and taller with roots going deeper.

At the same time healthy love gives you wings. Wings to fly, to grow, to change paths and directions. Wings to be who you are in whatever season you’re in. There is a saying “to be a friend is to witness 1000 births” and these words are so true! Love gives us wings to soar above and go explore the world around us!

The question is, are you in these types of relationships? Both in marriage, with your children or parents, in your friendships? Do you allow others to be who they are and change and grow while offering the stability of acceptance. Do you give unconditional love when the people in your life change and do something that you don’t understand?

Don’t feel guilty if not. We don’t know what we don’t know. It can feel shameful when we get honest and realize the growth we still must do.  But it’s not what you’ve been doing, it’s what you start doing, NOW! You can change, you can change your relationships! Life is an adventure and growth are the path we walk on. Embrace the idea of exploring and changing without shame or fear!

If you want to work with me on this, I can help you overcome and navigate these changes!
