Because I want to!

I often get asked why I do certain things? It’s very funny. Usually, they’re asking about things that they want to do but can’t seem to get it to become a habit. Or they feel guilty, (or less than) so they ask me “why do you...”  - Why do you work out so much? - Why do you do so much for your church? Why do you go to bed so early? My answer is simply because I want to, and I want to challenge you that this is enough of an answer. Because “I want to” is so powerful. Just say that to yourself.

Why are you dating so many men? “Because I want to.”

Why are you working so hard? “Because I want to.”

“I want” takes your power back. It holds you accountable to your life. You are responsible for your life. I am responsible for mine. I don’t think when people ask these questions it’s out of malice. I think its out of a little bit of jealousy, or maybe genuine curiosity. I think often they see things they want in others lives and what they are really asking “is how do you do that?” In your own thinking of your life, it is also ok for you to say “I’m doing this because I want to. I want too. I want to take the day off. I want to sleep in today. I want to do this and that’s it. No reasoning, no convincing. Just I want to.” Try it on for size today and see how it feels.
