Back To School

Happy Labor Day and back to school week!

I hope you all had an amazing long weekend, & I hope you all have an amazing back to school week. It’s such an exciting time for those with kiddos heading back, moving up another grade level, and getting a clean slate.

For some women though, it’s not a happy week. Some have longed to have children and never could. Some have lost children way too soon. Some mamas have gone through divorce and don’t have their kids this week or have lost custody all together. No matter what the reason is, seeing all the back-to-school pictures right now and feeling all the celebration while having an empty heart can be gut wrenching, and even soul crushing.

Be kind to those who may be hurting right now. Be conscious of those who may be struggling around you. And if you are that mama, take time to grieve this week. Take time to be angry this week. Take time for you.  It’s OK to shut social media down. It’s OK to not look.

And to the mamas who just feel they are not enough… maybe you overslept, and no picture was taken, maybe you had to work an overnight and couldn’t be there for the morning. You are ok. You are right where you are.  Do not let culture and society tell you what you must do or how it must be. Celebrate later in the day! Take a picture after school. In the long run, your kids will remember you. They’ll remember you trying, your hugs, you loving on them! Being just “you” is enough. I promise.
